Write the Room/Scoot/Math Centers

I don’t know about you, but I love incorporating Centers into our daily activities in Grade One and Two. It is a wonderful way for students to move and learn. From the kids’ perspectives, Write the Room/Scoot activities are great because they are fun and active. From my perspective, as the teacher, it is great as well, because it makes practicing math fun and exciting!
The wonderful thing about my Write the Room/Scoot/Math Centers is that they are very versatile and can be used for three different types of activities (as a write the room activity, scoot activity or as a math center). So you are able to switch up the activity for a group of students, or from year-to-year while only prepping ONE resource instead of three! They are also wonderful because they are fairly low prep! Meaning you have to print 4-5 pages in color (or in black and white if you don’t have color), cut the cards out and laminate! Boom, done! I also have created 12 different recording sheets, so you will be able to have one that fits the needs in your class! I have created a variety of Write the Room activities with different abilities, scope and sequences and different holiday/themes in mind.
These low prep Write the Room Activities will be your best friend throughout the year!

At the start of the year, I like to go over our expectations of what students will be doing during our math centers. I like to choose a fall or back-to-school themed resource that is fairly easy for the students. For example, I have used this Fall Fill in the Blanks Resource as one of my centers to teach classroom expectations. It is a wonderful review for students, but it allows for us to go over how we behave doing a task that they are capable of doing.
Please let me know if you use Write the Room Activities in your classroom? Do your students love them as much as mine?!
