I don’t know about your classroom, but in the last 5 years we have been seeing more and more students starting the school year behind academically. Every year I send home a package that has a dozen or so different cards games that help students practice numeracy skills at home! Every year at conferences parents bring up that they would like activities to do at home with their child in math. I then thought, I send home reading books home every night, what about numeracy?

So, I created 25 Math Activities and Centers that students are able to take home and practice with their families! This Math Take Home Bag Package is meant to create a positive connection with students and their families, as well as, with home and the school.
“Math Games are to Math, what Books are to Reading”.
For a lot of families, they don’t know what to do or where to start. This package is not meant to be seen as a homework package. I see Math Take Home Bags as a positive activity for students and family members to bond, while reinforcing numeracy skills. If a family is not able to complete it, I make sure to let them know that is OKAY! We are all busy! Any little bit helps 🙂
I started reading numerous articles about Numeracy and the positive correlation it has with learning in all subject areas. I included a few links below that you might find interesting about Numeracy for Early Years development, I know I did!

I remember Math Take Home Bags as a young learner. I remember how excited I would get to have a fun activity to do with my family that evening. I personally have received positive feedback on these take home bags from the families in my classroom.

Included in this package are 25 Math Activities and Centers. These can be used for Math Take Home Bags OR you could also use these for Math Centers in your class throughout the year!
Included in this package there are a variety of tasks, that practice different skills from counting, subitizing, one-to-one correspondence, number sense, counting on, addition, subtraction, place value and more! I understand how each classroom is diverse and the needs within each classroom are vast. Keeping this in mind I created some activities for students on the lower end, as well as, activities on the higher end. I have included multiple variations of centers where possible, so students are able to be successful for where they are at academically.
Teachers spend so much of their time and money on all things related to their classroom. I wanted to create something that was easy and inexpensive to create! You will need cardstock to print and laminate each center, dice, counters and Ziploc bags for most of the activities!
Below are the math activities and centers included in this package! I included a description for the first 10 activities!
