I don’t know about you, but I love the start of the school year! One thing we always work on is practicing our Days of the Week! It is part of our Calendar routine everyday. We sing songs, say the days of the week using silly voices, loud/quiet, fast/slow, discuss what day is today, what day will tomorrow be, what day was yesterday, what day will it be in 2 days? etc! I decided to make some fun Days of the Week Math Activities that we could work on at the start of the year and some Math Centers that they could use throughout the year.

I made 11 paper pencil activities:
- Students spin a days of the week spinner and tally how many times they land on each day of the week.
- Students spin a days of the week spinner and colour the word in on their paper. They keep repeating this until all of the days of the week are coloured in.
- Cut and paste the days of the week in order.
- Students have to fill in the missing day of the week.
- Seven pages, one for each day of the week activity pages where students have to rainbow write the day of the week, print the day of the week, and circle all of the days of the week for that day.
These went over very well! The students had fun with these pages and it also helped them with their understanding of the days of the week.

I also made 3 math centers that students worked on at the beginning of the year and then they revisited throughout the year. Here is what we used:
- Days of the Week Memory Match – Students take turns flipping over the task cards until they get a match.
- Days of the Week Ordering – Students take turns drawing a card and have to put it in order on the gameboard. The first student to have a week ordered correctly on the game board wins!
- Days of the Week Game – Students take turns rolling a dice and answering task cards about what day of the week it is, how many days will it be in 2 days, what day was it 3 days ago etc!
Math Centers are always a hit in our room! I do love and appreciate how students are learning from one another and working on so many important skills with their peers. We introduced these Centers at the start of the year. They then went into our Math Center Station where students could choose it throughout the year! It was so nice, because they had already played them and could then pick up the game later to review and already know how to play it.

I am definitely going to be using these again next year! If you would like to take a look you can find these Days of the Week Activities Here.
